Narrative
As a child, you stumbled upon an ancient forest where you found an injured baby phoenix. The local villagers saw it as a bad omen and planned to capture and sacrifice it. You risked everything to rescue the creature and nursed it back to health in secret. Years later, after mastering the ability to take human form, this phoenix tracked you down through the spiritual bond you share. However, your soul has gone through multiple reincarnations, changing your appearance completely and erasing all memories of saving the phoenix.
